Curriculum Show and Tell, Practicum, and Other Announcements

Curriculum Show and Tell
Friday, May 20 at 7 PM at Benge home (email Amber for the address)

This will be a casual mom's night... much overdue! Bring along the curriculum you are using with your kids and talk about what you like and don't like about it. You will get a chance to look through what the other moms are using and get some new ideas for this fall. If you're new to homeschooling, this will be a great time to ask questions from some veteran homeschool moms in our community. If you have curriculum that you are finished with and would like to sell, you're welcome to bring it!

This is open to all moms who are considering the homeschool journey, whether enrolled in CC or not so feel free to bring your friends. I'll provide coffee, tea, and snacks. If you would like to bring a finger food, that would be great! Please RSVP to Amber by Wednesday if you plan to attend!

CC Practicum
July 25-27 at Tri-City Baptist Church in Conover, 9 AM - 4 PM

The CC Practicum is a FREE equipping event for all parents of homeschoolers. This is one of those perks you get for being a part of the worldwide CC homeschooling family. During the morning session, our speaker will equip and encourage you to homeschool classically and help you gain a better understanding of how to use Classical Conversations with your children. We'll take a break at lunch and then the afternoon sessions will be training for tutors and additional training for CC parents.

Children are invited to attend CC camps where they will delve into Science, History, and Geography with 3 days of fun activities. The cost for camp is $44/child - a great deal for 3 whole days of summer camp with friends that includes lots of learning! You can register for the practicum online at http://www.parentpracticum.com. Click on the right side to register and do a search for "Conover" and it will pull the practicum information up.

Other Announcements

You should have received an invoice from me via email for your child's tuition. CC asks that tuition be paid for the year by July 20. As a personal favor, I'd like to ask if you would try to pay the supply fees by the end of June so we can go ahead and start prepping for science, art, and all the fun activities Cycle 2 will bring to our community.

Speaking of Cycle 2, I spent some time this week looking ahead at the memory work and it is going to be such an exciting year! This will be our 4th year in CC and Cycle 2 remains my favorite. Here's a sneak peak at some of the fun things we'll be doing in the coming year...

  • Medieval History - cardboard castles, a real Medieval Feast family night, and crafting our own shields and swords to use while studying the knights and the Crusades.
  • Build bridges and experiment with engineering in a fun egg drop activity.
  • Explore the solar system and learn about the planets and God's big universe that displays His majesty!
  • Learn about biomes, consumers, and animal habits
  • Take a trip through Europe on our maps, memorizing countries, capitals, and landmarks
That's just a tiny little slice of what's in store for your family next year! I hope you're getting excited.

See you soon!
Amber
